Rooly: Dear Bernard, you started the work for feld-records in 2004. Since then you published 6 authors. What are your criteria of selection and how do you perceive the term experimental in music and sound design?
Bernard: We (Heike Schleper and I) have been organizing experimental concerts at that time in a space called Atelierfrankfurt, basically a big house with lots of artist studios and a so called “club”. The label started with the idea of documenting these concert series, we didn’t have the plan to release every concert we did there but the ones that where most interesting to us. Very soon (actually instantly after the first release by Carlos Giffoni) it became clear that we would go different ways as well. Carlos’ CD is a worked over and shortened version of the recording of his concert in

Rooly: Dear Kirsten Hahn, I was at your concert in Orange Concept Store on 14th December. You performed there only with a drummer and a Stratocaster (if I remember well). From other interviews I understood that you use all sort of musicians for recordings and live performance. Who is Kitty Solaris?
Kitty: Kitty Solaris is my artist name, but also the project name.
I play in different constellations: sometimes solo, only voice + electric guitar, most times together with Steffen Schlosser on drums, and sometimes we have got guests on second guitar and keyboard or base. It’s important to be flexible, so that the music suits to the space, we can be flexible and play in small bars and bigger stages as well.

We had the pleasure of a Kissogram concert In Bucharest. On 23 of November you performed at Concept Store in Bucharest. On that occasion I met you and you also surprised me by coming to the indie performance of three local bands in The Loft. So, a German band is making contact with Romanian scene. Sebastian and Jonas, do you consider yourself part of Berlin music scene (as my first impression was that you look so East German) and if you do please tell us some things about this scene… your friends, gigs, underground scene or main stream scene…

To play a concert in Bucharest was really nice, we liked the people there and we felt, that there’s a movement in the city. The Orange Concept Store is maybe not the prettiest location in Bucharest, but it was a nice atmosphere though. The Loft was a great underground apartment-club which reminded me a little bit of the clubs in Berlin in the years after the wall came down. The bands were really good too. We are part of the Berlin music scene since summer 1999 and we have played many shows in these years. I think that the Berlin music scene is not as big as you might expect, there are just a few good and original bands, but there are many DJs, clubs and big discos.
The “underground”-flair that Berlin had some years ago is gone, but there are still many nice bars, cinemas, parties, exhibitions and stuff like that.

Salut Felix, salut Valentin!
